Old Freemen’s Needs Your Help To Build A Fantastic New Clubhouse!

Over £170,000 of the needed £600,000 raised so far. Please can you help us?

To find out how to donate, please scroll to the bottom of the page…

In 1945, past pupils founded the Old Freemen’s Association consolidating the variety of clubs and associations formed by past pupils since 1888.

Members returning from the war felt a duty to build a living Memorial to their friends who had paid the ultimate sacrifice. With the help of the School, the parents, and the Corporation a wooden Memorial Clubhouse was completed in 1955 for the sum of £1760. In 1958 and 1984 extensions were added, giving us the building we have today which, sadly, requires an unjustifiable amount of money to be spent on its upkeep.

We now have the opportunity and formal approval to build a brand new Clubhouse. The aim is to provide more space for social and sporting activities for our growing membership. It will also help us to strengthen our connections with the School by providing far better facilities, not only for the Association members, but also for pupils, staff and parents in creating a modern Memorial Clubhouse for the future.

As well as redeveloping facilities, the Clubhouse will incorporate a first floor balcony overlooking the School grounds and a landscaped patio area and gardens.

The challenge for us is to achieve a construction target of £600,000 and this is where we need your help. This is a rare opportunity for you to help provide facilities for the future generations and it is highly unlikely that another chance will come our way.

So please donate now, either a lump sum or we can accept pledges, which can be paid in instalments. Please see the different ways to donate at the bottom of this page.

Also, if you have special services relevant to this project and feel able to assist, any help will be most welcome by emailing oldfreemens AT gmail.com.
